Unthank Shield - NT 9743 1346
A substantial bank encloses an irregularly-shaped area of about 4 acres covered by two sets of rig and furrow. The name suggests this was a shieling ground used by the farm at Unthank, east of Alnham. It was in use in the 18th century and there may be remains of a building at the north-east corner. There is another, smaller, area of cruder rig and furrow 200 yards to the east.
