Windyhaugh School - NT 8687 1070
In 1879, the stone barn on the right was converted into a school, the first permanent one in the area. In the early 20th century the adjacent bungalow was built for the school teacher next to the ruins of the farm of Lounges Knowe. The school was replaced in 1971 by another on the site of the Wedder Leap car park, but this closed in 1978. The old schoolroom is now a camping barn
