Cunzierton axes - NT 7409 1794
The marker is on Cunzierton farm, where ploughing in the 1880s revealed two polished Neolithic axe heads. These were probably ceremonial in nature. Originating in the Italian Alps near Genoa, such axes were traded extensively across Europe during the 4th millennium BC. Now in the NMS Edinburgh.
